Formicary is a a cooperative brewery that serves the needs of both their workers and craft beer community in Greater Vancouver. As a democratic community space in Vancouver BC, brewers and consumers come together to learn about, make and enjoy quality craft beers. With a brand inspired by ant colonies, Formicary does everything "For the hill, by the hill."

In the Formicary, each ant plays a crucial role for the prosperity of the hill. A diverse community of ants work together to brew delicious beers under the rule of their majestic Queen Ant-oinette, who oversees the colony's operation and ensures harmony among all ants. From the valiant soldiers and mighty workers, everyone works together for the good of the colony.

The "Figures of the Colony" special series highlights the importance of each ants’ role in creating a thriving and harmonious colony. Each beer in this series highlights important figures throughout the hill’s history, pairing them with a type of ale that best suits their characteristics and story.
